Do you apply for the VA grant for me?
No. You apply with VA, and a VSO can help, usually at no charge. We write the estimate VA's agent will want to see.
Who sets the VA grant limits?
VA sets the maximum for SAH, SHA, TRA and HISA every year and decides who qualifies. Your VSO or VA has the current figure for your grant.
What is a VSO?
A Veterans Service Officer helps veterans file claims and grant applications, usually at no charge. County offices, the VFW and the American Legion all have them.
What if I don't qualify for a grant?
You can still hire us. Some veterans qualify for HISA, a smaller grant, and some pay for the work themselves.
Do you charge for the site walk?
We don't charge for the visit or the written estimate. It includes measuring, photos and a drawing on your photo. It does not include engineering drawings or a permit.
Is my house built before 1978?
Paint in homes built before 1978 can contain lead. EPA's rule covers paid work that disturbs painted surfaces in those homes, and our firm is certified to follow it. Tell us the year at the site walk.
Do I need a permit for a ramp?
Often, yes. We check with the City of San Antonio for your address and pull it when it's required. In a historic district or an HOA, there is a review first.
Will the work follow my therapist's recommendations?
Yes. Send us the note or bring your therapist to the site walk. We build to what they specify and list any equipment on its own line.
Do you work with an HOA?
Yes. We send your HOA a drawing and the materials list before we order anything.
Do you arrange financing?
No. We don't arrange loans. A VSO, your bank or a credit union can help.
Who will be at my house?
Maximo or Lisette comes to the site walk. Dionne leads the crew, and the same people stay on your job.
Does someone speak Spanish?
Yes. Lisette and Gerson do, and this site is available in Spanish.
